Yes, I am late on this trail, but released on Tuesday; there were several great releases including new albums from Tilly and the Wall, The Hold Steady, The Offspring, Wolf Parade, and My Brightest Diamond. All are great, and I'll try to be including featurettes on all of the above artists in the next few posts that I will put together.
The Offspring, [1989 - now] sometimes quoted 'Offspring,' are a alternative/punk act from Garden Grove, California. They've released many cds over the years, but most notably the succesful 'Smash' [1994], the best selling independant album of all time; 'Americana [1998], Conspiracy of One [2000], and 'Splinter,' [2003]. So it's no suprise that their latest release: Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace has been highly anticipated for years to come.
It seems to be a growing trend lately, for artists to either give away their album for free download [as the case was for Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails] or to stream their entire album for listeners to listen to before going out and buying. I think of this highly as a wise decision, so that we all know what to expect before buying the record. The Offspring, have followed this trend, by having their album streemed in its entirety on a great music streaming/playlist site called imeem. Here is the playlist, official, of their new full length album that you can listen to on the side of this blog. Enjoy!
